20/2/2018

The Economist's Society is delighted to announce our next guest speaker, Ian Shepherdson.

Ian is the founder of global economic research firm Pantheon Macroeconomics. Pantheon publishes daily independent economic intelligence aimed at financial market professionals, advising some of the countries largest investment managers.
Vastly experienced, Ian’s previous roles include Chief Economist for the UK and US at HSBC, and in February 2015 he was named The Wall Street Journal's US economic forecaster of the year for the second time, having previously won the award in 2003.

Ian’s talk, ‘The great American wages mystery- why full employment hasn’t sparked inflation (yet!)’ will look at the apparent disconnect between the labour market and the wider economy, and offer an insight into the path along which the US economy will move going forward.

This talk will be invaluable to students interested in investment management, macroeconomics and finance; and those thinking of pursuing a career in any of these fields will find this talk of particular use.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session where attendees will be able to ask questions related to both the talk and Ian’s career as a whole.

This event will be very popular so ensure you arrive on time to get a seat. We look forward to seeing you all there!
