The UCL Economics & Finance Society, in collaboration with the Economist's Society, are pleased to announce that Evan Davis will be visiting us at UCL! He will be talking about the economics of information in this post-truth era.
Aside from his role as the host of Dragons' Den, Evan Davis is also the main presenter of the BBC2 show Newsnight, having replaced Jeremy Paxman in 2014. In addition, he is the host of the Radio 4 business discussion programme The Bottom Line.

Before Newsnight, Evan was a presenter of the Today programme on BBC Radio 4. He also spent seven years as the Economics Editor of the BBC. He has made several BBC documentaries, including the influential two-part BBC 2 series, Mind the Gap, which explored the economic disparities between London and other regions in the UK.

Evan has written several books, the latest of which is 'Post Truth' which sets out to explain why there is so much mendacity and nonsense in public discourse and why it became more of a concern in 2016.

He studied at St John's College, Oxford and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, going on to work as an economist for the IFS. Evan has also won numerous awards. In 2017, he was named News Presenter of the Year and in 2015 he was Attitude magazine's Man of the Year.

Join Evan on the 8th March from 6-7pm in Roberts Building 422 to hear about his most recent publication and the economics of information.

This event will be very popular, so be sure to register for a free ticket on Eventbrite beforehand:
