The LSE-UCL Economics Conference, previously known as the LSESU Economics Conference was first envisaged and initiated in 2009. By hosting prominent academic, professionals and policy actors in a setting conducive to intellectual exchange, the conference would pique the curiosity of delegates on the diverse facets of Economics as well as help them further their understanding and interest in the subject.
13/14 Conference titled “People and Economics”, marked the first instance UCL was brought on board as a co-organizer of the conference and a renaming of this event to become the LSE-UCL Economics Conference. First proposed by both departmental tutors, it was hoped collaboration would expand the scale of the conference in both organizational capabilities and outreach.
Last year’s 14/15's Conference "Mainstream Economics - Too Big to Fail?" was extraordinarily in-depth, very well organised and an all-round success! The insights from the speakers such as Nobel Laureates Prof. Robert Aumann and Prof. Eric Maskin created much debate alongside agreement within the crowd - and sparked Economic thoughts around the venue.
“Where is Economics Going? – A Future of Uncertainty” was this year's (15/16) conference, and was held at LSE's Old Building in November. The conference had many distinguished speakers including a debate on the future of inequality, as well as a panel discussion on human behaviour and behavioural economics. Thanks to this year, it is easy to see how the conference is becoming a regular sell-out event with guests of all ages buying tickets!
This year’s conference is to be held on 19th November 2016 is based upon the theme “Economics-Out of its comfort zone?”. Keep an eye out for the release of who will be speaking and ticket availability!Visit the site to learn more!
