The 2022-21 Economist's Society Committee has continued and expanded upon the work of previous years. With increased sponsorship and comprehensive online rebranding, academic and social events have gone from strength to strength and the society continues to provide our members with a great student experience and inclusive family atmosphere.

The Treasury is responsible for the financial stability of the society- allocating the Society budget to best serve our members. The team also handles the administrative and logistical elements of all events.

Academic Events

The Academic Events team is responsible for inviting world-class economists to speak at UCL. This year (2021-22), the society successfully launched a series of speakers filling out lecture theatres with audiences for these acclaimed Economists.

Social Events

The Social Events Team are responsible for many highly anticipated socials throughout the year. This has included the Freshers Week programme and the ice-skating Christmas Social. In Term 2. the team is also tasked with planning the prestigious David Ricardo Ball- an annual sell-out event.

Marketing

The Marketing Team works extensively alongside all the other divisions of the society to promote all our  events. The team also manage the Society's website.

External Relations

The External Relations Team establishes, maintains and strengthens ties with institutions outside of the Department. These include other top universities, sponsoring firms and partner organisations.

Internal AND ALUMNI Relations

The Internal and Alumni Relations team acts as the bridge between all members of the Department:
  • Undergraduate, postgraduate and affiliate students
  • All professors of Economics
  • Our former students, the alumni.
​This year, the team is increasing the emphasis on Alumni Relations by collaborating with the team of the UCL Alumni Online Community to expand our reach to Economics alumni.

The economic Tribune

The Economic Tribune is the official student magazine of the Department of Economics at UCL, representing hundreds of students that are passionate about economics, politics and research. The correspondents work hard throughout the year to publish 4 issues of the print magazine.
